Role

The Account Manager will maintain and establish growth in existing customer base through the sale of consumables and placement of instruments leading to increased revenues for the company. The Account Manager is directly responsible for achieving the territory sales goals and maintaining existing customers.
  • Schedule and conduct formal sales activities, including capabilities-based presentations; focus groups; technical seminars; and new product launches to drive sales.
  • Develop relationships with key customers/opinion leaders within defined territory. 
    1) Identify key opinion leaders/reference sites within defined territory. 
    2) Establish relationships with these identified opinion leaders/reference accounts. 
    3) Leverage relationships to expand existing business within defined territory. 
  • Direct daily sales activities to ensure customer focus, prompt customer response, and customer follow-up where required.
  • Coordinate and interface with colleagues to develop appropriate collaboration to promote the growth of overall business.
  • Ability to take-on special projects upon request.
  
Requirements
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences discipline
  • Previous Sales experience in Lab Supplies industry
  • Two to three years of hands on lab experience
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
Ideally combined with
  • Life science applications such as electrophoresis, immunoassay development, PCR
  • Effective selling, entrepreneurial, interpersonal, motivational, organisational, planning, teamwork, account management and strategizing skills
  • Some formal sales training (e.g., SPIN, Miller-Heiman, et al.,)
  • Knowledge of the biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, chemical, laboratory distribution, and pharmaceutical industries
  • An understanding of product profitability and general business financials
