The Role

Ideally based in Canberra and reporting to the Regional Head of Business Development - APAC, you will identify and prioritise opportunities across our Defence and Security market to maximise sales potential and increase customer satisfaction, primarily in the aerospace and distributed/joint mission training domain. You will enhance the Company’s position in this market by influencing customer procurement policy, development and implementation. You will support campaigns into other defence & security domains as needed. Your primary area of market responsibility will be Australia and New Zealand however you will support business development team efforts in other parts of Asia Pacific and the Middle East as required.

You will secure orders for existing training and exercise decision support solutions and develop new training opportunities across the aerospace defence and security market. You will lead multi-discipline capture teams ensuring the success of our bids and proposals.

By developing and providing training solutions to our customers, you become a trusted partner and advisor. You will develop and maintain relationships at the highest levels within key customer and partner organisations. Working closely with our customers you will maintain and enhance our strong reputation and provide support primarily locally but also throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Skills and Experience

  • A strong understanding of defence training in an operational, virtual and constructive environment
  • Relevant defence experience across air and joint operations
  • Proven ability to grow a business and relationships
  • Currently hold or be eligible for relevant Defence and ITAR security clearances
  • A solid track record selling defence and security training solutions
  • Experience in defence and security exercise and decision support based training solutions
  • Experience leading or participating in defence procurement

The person

The successful candidate will have a strong business development and customer relations background and will be highly proficient in negotiation, influencing and comfortable closing deals.  You will have a strong knowledge of the defence aerospace sector, ideally relating to future air force and joint training needs and systems. You will be highly organised, analytical, articulate and persuasive.

Finally, we will need you to be able to demonstrate that you can roll your sleeves up and do the work yourself, as well as being able to work collaboratively with others.
