Workplace Health and Safety Manager
This is a Full Time, Live on Island position
About the Company
Hayman Island Great Barrier Reef is an ultra-luxury private island resort currently undergoing restoration and construction works. Whilst the resort is not open to guests until the end of 2018, we are seeking engaged and motivated professionals to be a part of our rebuilding and reopening team.
The Role
Proactively develop, implement and monitor the appropriate measures pertaining to the Workplace Health and Safety needs of all associates. Drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the resort.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist to develop, co-ordinate and facilitate WHS training as required by the Hotel
- Proactively update knowledge of relevant legislation and WHS best practices to propose recommendations to management.
- Assist to ensure the organisation is compliant in accordance with WHS legislation
- Maintain the hazard identification process and effectively address any hazards that pose a significant threat to the workplace.
- Implement WHS Policies and Procedures and Rehabilitation where necessary
- Ensure appropriate WHS documentation and records are maintained
- Assist management in data recording and preparation of statistical analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Promote Health and Safety throughout the Hotel.
Your skills and experience will include:
- Cert IV or higher in Work, Health & Safety or related discipline
- Rehabilitation & Return to Work Co-Ordinator (QLD) qualifications or similar
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a similar role
- Demonstrated involvement in WH&S Committee and understanding of WHS practices and policies
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in interpreting and implementing Acts, Regulations, Policies, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards relevant to WHS
- Well-developed written communication, facilitation, problem solving & influencing skills
- Current driver's license
