The Role

Bendigo Kangan Institute is seeking an experienced and passionate Human Resources professional specialising in Employee Relations to join the team on a short term basis.

Based in Cremorne and reporting to the ER Specialist, the primary purpose of this role will be to provide advice on and manage industrial relations issues; such as, Enterprise bargaining, terms and conditions compliance, applications at Fair Work Commission, change management and to assist in the development of the ER framework.

The Employee Relations Consultant will also be responsible for:

  • In collaboration with HR Business Partners coach and support managers/employees on operational ER/IR/HR matters such as performance management, misconduct, personal illness, discrimination/harassment and disputes as well as important policies/procedures

  • Participate in union consultation and dispute resolution, including assisting with the preparation for appearances before the Fair Work Commission

  • Provide advice and guidance to line management/HR Business Partners on the application of policies and industrial/employment instruments across the organisation

  • Conduct workplace investigations

  • Perform advocacy as required

Key Selection Criteria

To be considered for this role, you will be an experienced, enthusiastic, and self-motived professional who thrives in a fast paced environment. You will have a focus on building strong, honest relationships and a no job is too small attitude, and will take on challenges with tenacity and drive.

This role requires a tertiary qualified (or equivalent prior experience) Workplace Relations professional  with strong employee and industrial relations experience within a complex environment. The role will suit those who have previously worked within education, local government, statutory bodies and health sectors.

To be considered for this role, you must be organised and pragmatic, have excellent investigative and analytical skills, accompanied with demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of industrial relations legislation, practices and strategies. An ability to consult and provide specialist advice on a broad range of complex workplace and employee relations issues will also be key to your success.
