About the Role

We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner with a focus on IR to assist our projects and provide strategic and operational ER/IR advice nationally.
Reporting to the National HR Manager Australia, this role will support the country in all ER/IR related activities, HR projects and tenders.

These activities include but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with operational managers of business units to facilitate the delivery of quality and timely ER/IR advice and build IR capability within the organisation.
  • Assist payroll, employees and managers in EA and Award interpretation.
  • Negotiate (or lead the negotiation of) EAs
  • Liaise with Indigenous groups
  • Prepare HR/IR tender documentation for the Australian Business Unit
  • Advocacy/representation at Fair Work Australia and other tribunals, and support to legal representation including in relation to industrial activity, unfair dismissals etc.
  • Manage industrial activity that occurs within the business, provision of support for dispute management as appropriate, and minimize risks associated with industrial activity
  • Management and influence of relationships with external parties such as Unions, legal providers, Fair Work Australia, Employer Associations, Fair Work Building and Construction
  • Write contracts, transfers, etc as required

The person we are seeking to appoint will be an HR generalist with significant industrial and employee relations experience in an operations environment. You will also have a comprehensive understanding of regulatory foundations across state and federal boundaries, including the Fair Work Act, EEO legislation, and ideally also the Building Code. Familiarity with HR information systems is an advantage.

The successful candidate will be a team player, taking also a mentoring role to develop less experienced team members.
