Tactile Arts is a member based, not-for-profit community arts organisation that actively supports and promotes artists and craftspeople from Darwin and the top end of the Northern Territory. Operating since 1975, Tactile Arts is one of Darwin’s longest established arts organisations, providing on-going support for emerging and established artists and craftspeople.
We are currently seeking a Craft Fair Co-ordinator/ Administration Assistant on a casual basis to join our team to assist with the upcoming Dragonfly Craft Fair and to provide support to the Acting General Manager.
Responsibilities:
The ideal applicant will have a high level of attention to detail and motivation in organisation, communication, meeting deadlines and computer systems. Tasks and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Providing administration support to General Manager
- Responding to members, artists and the general public enquires regarding the craft fair
- Maintaining office databases, filing systems and record management
- Processing craft fair applications
- Liaising with vendors on equipment hire and other site requirements
- Filing and organising documents
- Educating craft fair participants regarding protocols and responsibilities in line with Tactile Arts guidelines and procedures
- Being present and responsible on the day and ensuring a smooth set up and bump out.
- Assisting in reconciling cash balance
Experience and Skills:
- Previous experience in fair / event coordination essential
- Advanced / Intermediate experience knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel
- Proficient phone handling skills
- Must be capable of working autonomously
- Must be capable of co-ordinating volunteers
- Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Proven ability to plan, schedule and co-ordinate work and meet deadlines
- Ability to work varying and flexible hours
Employment dates are from 30/7/2018 to 30/8/2018 with the posibility of extension. The role is a casual position, with up to 25 hours per week planned, with additional hours to be scheduled as needed. The hourly rate is $27.85, inclusive of 9.5% superannuation.
