You will be joining a team of developers, currently looking to add like-minded motivated individuals with a passion for delivering successful web development solutions. You will have autonomy in your role, focusing on development work for new web applications and adding functionality to the existing software.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in a fast-moving product development team operating in a DevOps environment and you will be instrumental in assisting the CTO in building out the company’s technology strategy and vision.  The role will involve working across the entire product including the development and maintenance of our client software, embedded device software and cloud infrastructure.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and a customer-centric mentality who will relish the opportunity to play a major part in the future of the engineering team at Vivi creating a great culture as well as collaborating with other team members to design and implement innovative software solutions. Working within a DevOps environment your responsibilities extend past just the software solutions and you will also be responsible for designing, configuring and monitoring the infrastructure as well as creating automation for building, testing and deploying the software.  

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Designing and implementing software solutions across multiple platforms
• Producing high-quality code with excellent test coverage
• Code reviews
• Efficient and effective code maintenance
• Analysing product requirements and breaking down into user stories and tasks 
• Estimating and planning to assist with the development of the product roadmap
• Maintaining own development environments
• Monitoring and supporting infrastructure and production environments
• Developing build, test and deployment automation
• Research and development of potential new technologies
• Competitor analysis
• Defining processes and standards within the team and contributing to the continuous improvement of the product development process 
• Mentoring and coaching of junior team members
• Producing a high standard of technical documentation
• Liaising with sales, marketing and product support teams
• Working with customers to understand requirements and technical issues
• Self-Organisation of work
• Technical risk assessment
• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role in a digital environment
• Exposure to DevOps culture
• Demonstrable experience of full software/product development lifecycle process
• Agile processes and practices
• Object orientated methodologies 
• Experience within the Ed Tech space would be advantageous

Essential:

• Advanced level knowledge of Debian and/or Ubuntu Linux or similar
• Advanced level knowledge of at least 2 of the following: C/C++, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript
• Good working knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or MySQL
• Good working knowledge of AWS
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies
• Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders and customers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment, both autonomously and as part of a team
