The Team:

The technical team is a relatively small group of developers responsible for creating new and innovative software - not just maintaining existing systems.

The team is given a great deal of freedom and responsibility over the software development lifecycle. Our developers are involved throughout the entire software development process from initial requirements elicitation, scoping, and the concrete implementation. The company is willing to take technological risks and try creative solutions over 'safe' choices and is looking for a developer that embodies this ethos.

The work:

The latest Scala project is reactive real-time web collaboration platform encompassing thousands of users spread across Australia. The system was modelled on principles of Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing, and CQRS. You will be creating a framework built on top of Akka Persistence and Akka Cluster Sharding to enable us to implement our modelling and also contribute to the scalability, resilience, and performance of the system.

Our ideal candidate must have the following attributes:

Scala programming experience
Interest in functional programming and statically typed languages
Familiarity with the Amazon Web Services (SQS, SNS, RDS, ECS)
Experience working as a part of an Agile Team
Managing self in an environment with fast-changing and competing priorities
Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
Passion for delivering great digital products.
