Overview:
My NSW Government Client is running a major program of work to build a Hybrid Cloud Platform and the associated organisational structure and business processes to operate it. The work requires strong strategic leadership and effective collaboration with the rest of the Information Technology teams in the organization as well as other teams such as legal, finance, and procurement.
Role Description:
My Client has a requirement for an automation Architect with a strong background in delivering automation solutions using cloud services,. The suitable candidate will be the lead architect for the automation stream within the hybrid cloud program
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong communication skills, excellent stakeholder management skills and will be able to show a strong track record in using automation to drive the efficient delivery of hybrid cloud solutions in a large enterprise.
- Strong background and experience in automation, particularly creating and using scripts to deliver robust, secure and repeatable delivery of end-to-end solutions
- Considerable proven experience architecting solutions using automation and orchestrations tools e.g. Rightscale, CloudForms, vRealize Automation etc
- Detailed experience architecting solutions using configuration automation tools e.g. puppet, Chef or Ansible
- Technical architecture knowledge and proven experience of AWS and Azure public clouds, in particular orchestrating end-to-end solutions using cloud services
- Technical architecture knowledge of private cloud technologies, solutions and products
- Proven ability in mapping out existing processes end-to-end and build future state orchestration maps to drive efficiency and automation within the processes
- Considerable documented experience in designing solutions that integrate infrastructure provisioning automation into application release tool chaining
- Liaise with all business, program and executive stakeholders to gather required technical inputs and provide program level updates and direction
- Escalation point for automation stream architectural and technical decisions
- Input into and evaluation of required RFx documents for automation & orchestration products and services
- Establish working relationships with relevant staff to develop and share knowledge of automation cloud and tools.
- Provide leadership for engineering staff within the automation stream
- Understand new ways of working including DevOps practises
Keys Skills Required:
- DevOps experience
- Git mandatory
- Ansible highly desirable
- Windows and Linux exposure with Linux preferred if more experienced in one flavour
- Azure and/or AWS experience
- Nutanix and/or VMware knowledge
- CI/CD experience, Atlassian toolset desirable as we use Bamboo/Bitbucket/Jira and Confluence
