About the role

We are looking to add a self-motivated senior network and security engineer to our growing team to take the lead in delivery for a number of projects across routing/switching at our data centres. This is a role within a growing Managed Services & Cloud environment. You will be working with a portfolio of clients in both the Corporate and Government sectors using system and procedures that help you maintain a good work life balance and be productive at the same time.   Our staff enjoy working in a highly structured and organised environment with a friendly team that thrives on collaboration.  You are a proven and driven IT professional (minimum of 8 years' experience)

You are able to demonstrate the following attributes:

• Exceptional trouble shooting, strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
• Working collaboratively, you will bring a team-focused approach
• Effective time management skills
• Hold a Current Qld Driver's license
• Australian Residency

Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Handle data centre incidents and prioritise them accordingly
• Network based projects (Architecture, Scope, Implement and Document)
•  Identification of network and security enhancements
• Ensure an optimal security posture is maintained
• Prepare detailed designs in accordance with requirements
• Deployment of new networking and security hardware
• Participate in the 24x7 on-call roster system and be available for after-hours work
•  Develop and conduct proactive maintenance activities
• Ensure effective controls, process and contingency plans are in place

Skills and Experience:

Core Requirements

• Advanced Switching covering the below (but not limited to)
  • Virtual link aggregation
  • Spanning Tree
• Dynamic Routing Protocols (OSPF)
• Cisco ASA Firewalls
• Cisco IPS FirePOWER and FireSIGHT
• Network Design Skills
• Demonstrated experience in project delivery

Highly Desirable

• IBM/Lenovo Switching hardware
• Vyatta/Vyos/vRouter - Routers
• VMware vSphere
• Dynamic Routing Protocols (BGP)

• Any of the following skills would be an added bonus
• Cisco Switching
• VMware NSX
• Linux
• Sophos UTM
• Software Defined Wide Area Networking (SDWAN)

·         Knowledge of ITIL/ISO 20000 Frameworks

Certifications

• CCNA Routing and Switching certification would be considered advantageous
• CCNA Security certification would be considered advantageous
• CCNP Routing and Switching certification would be considered highly advantageous
• CCNP Security certification would be considered highly advantageous
• CCIE Routing and Security certification would be considered highly advantageous
• VMware VCA or VCP certification would be considered highly advantageous
