About the role…

The Money tribe is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Delivery Engineering squad and help build the systems and applications that will help drive REA forward on its mission to 'change the way the world experiences property'.

As a Systems Engineer in The Money, you’ll be responsible for designing, improving and maintaining our services in a collaborative environment. We have a platform that the rest of the business can innovate on top of, it’s critical to our processes and you’ll be involved with its ongoing development. You'll be deeply involved in the design and creation of the systems that let REA create new products, bundle them together, provision them to customers and collect money

What you will learn…

• AWS - All our microservices are built for and run in the cloud. There's loads of internal support so don't be afraid if this is new.
• Docker - all our apps are tested and deployed using Docker. Just like with AWS there's heaps of support for this and also internal training. We’re currently using ECS as our container scheduler, so there will be a ton of exposure to that. We’re always looking at how we can improve our existing tools and techniques, so bring your ideas!
• Windows - We have no bias. We run HA SQL Clusters, .Net Apps, SSIS and a few more things. It’s the perfect opportunity to skill up cross-vendor.
• Agile - REA is renowned for its agile approach. Teams are given the autonomy to come up with solutions independently in cross-functional teams.

What we expect…

• Technical skills in managing environments with experience right across the stack - from infrastructure and applications to monitoring and deployment/orchestration tooling.
• Experience building and deploying applications using CI/CD methodologies
• Ideally some experience with AWS and Docker.
• Experience in development or scripting languages is essentials
• Must be a self-starter - We expect you to get on with it and get it done.
• Enthusiasm, willingness to learn and get your hands dirty.

What is it like to work with us?

Our squads each have around 10 people who collectively represent technology, business, and product and work together to maintain existing products while building new capabilities for the business.

Our Delivery Engineering squad shifts between 2-4 people. Each day we get together, talk about what we've just done, what we're about to do then work together during the day. We believe strongly in pairing, testing, continuous delivery.

Each week we participate in guilds across the company to keep our skills sharp and increase our impact, and in team retrospectives where we keep track of how our team is going. Your manager acts as a mentor to help guide you and your career, instead of being someone who monitors your day to day.
