The Company
The Capital Markets arm of this large Australian Bank participates in the trading of various financial products Globally across a range of liquidity venues as well as direct to market.  The Technology that facilitates this is highly customised and performant.  With Business and Technology head quartered in Sydney, new projects and initiatives are driven from Australia and then released globally. 

The Area & Team
Known as FICC Tech, the area is responsible for technology/infrastructure that underpins the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities Trading areas. The team have recently delivered a front-to-back, proprietary built pricing & trading platform for the FX Spot, Forward, Sales and Quant desks. They are now keen to replicate this success across the Fixed Income space and will start building a quant-driven pricing engine for the Rates desk.  

The Role 
The role will sit in a small and elite team of developers. You will report directly into and work closely with the Head of FICC Technology, face off directly to Quant Traders and Risk Managers to gather requirements and be expected to contribute significantly to the design of new components. Given the skill level of the existing team, you must be highly experienced in the design and build of cutting edge trading solutions. 

Role Requirements  

• Strong high-load, latency sensitive Java development skills (including RxJava and/or JVM tuning).
• Advanced knowledge of Linux 
• Well versed in Data Structures, complexity theory and CS fundamentals;
• Highly motivated, and suitably equipped to work directly with traders/quants
• Strong understanding of the FX or Fixed Income product set - including how they are priced & Traded
• ReactJs experience highly advantageous 
• Creative problem solver 
• Strong analytical skills 
• Strong communication skills & keen to share/hear ideas 
• MS or PhD qualified in a relevant field a distinct advantage 
• Proven experience in algo/automated trading / market making development
