Graduate Software Engineer

The Role

As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will be responsible for working as part of our Product Development team to maintain and improve Instaclustr’s systems and offering. You will work in teams of 2-10 dedicated software engineers planning, designing, building, testing and releasing features using a mix of modern and new technologies. Our service, built and delivered from Canberra, provides cutting-edge open source technologies (Cassandra, Kafka, Spark) to clients around the world.

Our core development language is Java, but you will also be using Scala, Clojure, Python, Javascript and Typescript within niches of our product. You'll deal with a range of Open Source technologies and services including Kafka, Cassandra, Elasticsearch stack, Postgres, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Jenkins, AWS/Azure/GCP API’s and DataDog. We follow an agile software development process and make production releases continuously.

Your Major Responsibilities

• With teammates, design, develop, test and release either individual changes or contributions to a larger project

• Work with our senior software engineers to learn and develop your skills

• Adopt and suggest improvements to quality and process

Skills Required

• Undergraduate or higher degree in Software Engineering

• Structured approach to problem solving and learning new technologies and skills

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Enthusiasm for learning new technologies
