Within the Verifone Asia Pacific Application Development Centre team, we have crafted a new position for a committed leader to handle customer-facing agile end-end software development for major banking clients in Australia. This Strategic Client Software Development Manager is a key role in our ADC team, to lead software development efforts for significant new delivery portfolio. You are empowered and accountable to lead high-quality, rapid agile software delivery. You and your team work in a customer co-location model with large banking clients across Australia, including some of Verifone’s largest global clients. Working with the Senior Director of APAC ANZ Application Development Centres, this position ensures that terminal applications for major clients are successfully delivered in line with the goals and principles set by the Region and Global Technology Organization and encompasses the design and development of software / systems, including planning, testing, implementation and maintenance of new and existing software products.

As our Global Engineering organization drives step change improvements in on-time delivery, software quality and cost per system release, you will be a role model and a change agent for new ways of working. We work in an agile environment, where you lead a dedicated team of software engineers and scrum master that form a pizza team with a Product Owner, Portfolio Manager, and multi-functional team members.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

We work together to understand client needs, with customer obsession to deliver solutions that are right first time. A key to your success is working with local and corporate engineering teams to use new technologies to streamline development. You stay up to date on agile development standard methodologies, and newest technology solutions for mobile payments. You assess and identify strategic advantages and technological trends for your client and our joint co-development team. Are you experienced driving decision-making through meaningful data and critical metrics? We work with business teams to ensure projects are well scoped, prioritised, and resources. To grow our people, we mentor high potential employees for accelerated career development and growth. We motivate all staff, through clear communication of project needs.

Knowledge & experience:

  • At least 10 years’ experience working with technology in large global companies.
  • Expert delivering software solutions, ideally in the EPOS/EFTPOS arena.
  • Experienced leading customer-focused software development teams, ideally in an on-site agile customer co-development model.
  • Consistent record in mentoring and developing team members.
  • Enjoys running complex projects working across different teams, partners, and countries.
  • You are highly experienced in software architecture and development.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and tools. Champions Continuous Integration, Automation, and rapid customer-centric development based on sprints, user stories, and consistent software architecture frameworks.
  • Expertise in software development strategies, project management and business and technical consultancy.
  • Seen as an innovator and is able to drive innovation.
  • Degree level education required. Ideally you are certified and deeply experienced in agile methodologies.

Skills & abilities:

  • Exceptional team leadership: motivates and inspires teams to pull in delivery, able to select/deselect team members and make the hard calls to achieve the best overall business and client outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal/written, for internal and external customers a requirement. You are an expert communicator, and ideally have worked with clients in the banking and financial services industry in Australia.
  • Works well across global teams, able to influence and synthesise global software efforts for maximum benefit to the region.
  • Ability to balance conflicting resource demands and pressures with focus towards our business priorities.
  • Proven track record for strong problem resolution techniques, ability to find solutions..
  • Ability to adapt, learn and continue to expand in Verifone product and system knowledge.
  • Well versed in critical thinking and complex decision-making.
