Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Role and Responsibilities

• Help build and support the Infrastructure for one of Australia’s largest and most well-known websites and streaming services
• Build and manage public cloud server networks and infrastructure in development and production environments
• Continuously improve systems to reduce inefficiencies and maximise process capabilities
• Monitor system performance, make recommendations to improve and implement system-wide changes to enhance overall system proficiency
• Assist in formulating security mechanisms to prevent, detect and respond to internal and external security threats
• Handle production support issues as they arise
• Actively participate in the Agile process
• Work with and within development teams to troubleshoot and design infrastructure solutions
• Lead technology initiatives and projects from design to implementation

 
Essential experience & skills

• Deep understanding and experience with AWS cloud-based environments, deployments and services
• Sound technical knowledge of web architecture and technologies
• Experience in architecting web applications on the AWS platform
• Experience working with Akamai CDN or similar content delivery platforms
• Sound knowledge and experience building deployment pipelines in Teamcity or other CI/CD tools
• Experience working with container orchestration (Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, AWS ECS)
• Extensive experience administering Linux OS – RHEL, CentOS, Debian
• Experience with one or more configuration management systems such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible
• Ability to code and script in Ruby/Bash/Python
• Experience with Version Control repos – SVN, BitBucket
• Knowledge of Networking, DNS and Proxy Servers
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Ability to work in an Agile environment with minimal guidance

 
Desirable experience & skills

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science / Engineering or related discipline
• Experience in the media industry
• Big Data and Data Warehousing
• Experience scripting and coding with Node.js/GO/Powershell
• Media streaming services AWS MediaLive, Elementals Encoders
• AWS Certified Solution Architect
