About the business

URSYS is a private Australian company specializing in managed services, focusing on satellite engineering, private LTE and remote area communications.  It is particularly active in provision of remote area industrial telemetry systems including nationally significant industry projects.

URSYS is a small, yet dynamic company with a staff of highly accomplished engineers. We are looking for someone who will thrive in a highly technical environment to join our team.

About the role

As part of the team you would be required to:

Work as part of a team across multiple projects, monitoring and optimising complex network solutions to support our existing customer base. 

Liaise with clients and suppliers on complex networking issues to resolve or escalate as appropriate. 

Work autonomously to assist with deployment of new installations from hardware build through to commissioning and operation including providing level two technical support.

Over time the role could expand to the creation and maintenance of the systems that underpin URSYS' managed services, satellite and LTE operations.

Skills and experience

The applicant will have experience and exposure to the following technologies:

• Cisco routers and switches (CCNA level at a minimum)
• Juniper routers and switches
• an in depth understanding of TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting
• Network security
• Linux

Nice to have

• Knowledge of RF systems and link budgets
• Experience with iDirect satellite systems will be highly regarded but not expected.
• Skill or interest in coding is also a bonus, we use mostly python in-house.

We are looking for a committed network engineer with a passion for this type of work.  Any of the following will be well regarded:

• Accomplished industry experience
• Excellent academic achievement (for recent graduates)
• Demonstration of a passion for system engineering through private involvement in open source projects or similar personal activities

Personal Qualities and Strengths will be:

• Inquisitive, self motivated and works well in a dynamic work environment.
• A keen interest in figuring out how things work.
• A skilled communicator and ability to demonstrate a command of both written and spoken English (speaking English fluently is essential.)
• An enthusiastic people person and able to demonstrate the above skills at interview.
• The ability to take ownership of new projects.
