We currently have an opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer to work on new and exciting projects, as well as help shape the architecture of our web infrastructure. We are about to take this to the next level for greater scalability and robustness to streamline workflow and to support business growth. You will implement and manage our infrastructure, develop internal tools and work to automate everything. As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will be expected to contribute to technical road maps, architecture and mentoring of junior staff when required.
Who you are
The successful candidate will join the IT Shared Services division and will be exposed to a number of IT Operational functions including Streamline & Circulation, Content and Insight, Automation, Digital Apps, News Life Media, AdSales, Finance and People and Culture. This position is critical as your core focus will be on the scalability, robustness and reliability of our online hosting environment.
You will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence in the automation of operations & support of technology platforms & infrastructure and play a key part in maintaining effective and standardised end-to-end operational support and processes for the customers’ services which includes definition of accountabilities. You will also be able to provide direction and accountability in delivery of automated services to National Technology Customers within News Corp to ensure that these Customers are supported by robust, reliable, repeatable, and fit-for-purpose automated operational services and processes whilst maintaining the alignment of the Operations strategy
Essential Requirements:
- Strong commercial experience as a DevOps Engineer in a Unix environment
- Solid commercial experience with AWS
- Strong scripting experience in Python
- Passion - for all things internet, open-source software, security and cloud computing
- Ability to analyze failures and identify root causes in conjunction with developers
- An interest in exploring and implementing creative ways to improve site availability, performance and scalability
Experience with Redhat, Amazon Linux, Windows, Puppet, Python, NodeJS will be highly regarded.
You will have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and excellent communication & organisation skills. You will take pride in your work and take ownership and accountability of meeting deadlines.
