As the fourth largest Telco in Australia, Vocus Group continues to grow and we are looking for an experienced Design Engineer. 

As Design Engineer, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive engineering design input to the Major Projects Group across its array of complex and major projects, one initial project being the new Coral Sea Cable Project which is a commonwealth government initiative to establish a modern high speed undersea telecoms cable between Australia, PNG and Solomon Islands that Vocus has won the contract on. 

The day to day

• Responsible for the production of engineering design specifications and drawings for DWDM transmission systems and associated power and cooling systems
• Responsible for review of engineering specifications
• Responsible for engineering design and preparing associated engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, procedures, test plans
• Documentation review and sign off including that for engineering elements of contract deliverable
  

What you need to bring to the table

• Demonstrated 10 years experience in design and implementation of transmission systems into data centre environments
• Engineering Degree in Telecommunications or Electrical
• Experience in transmission systems and DWDM engineering
• Experience in remote DCN network design
• Experience in power engineering with respect to assessment of DC and AC load requirements and specification
• Understanding of HVAC systems, outside plant civil works and transmission hut specification and design is an advantage
• Skilled in Visio, CAD
• Strong problem solving skills
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to work unsupervised
