The Java Engineer will be involved in:

Becoming an expert in the data extraction, transformation and delivery platforms used within the business; being able to write code for such platforms

• Becoming an expert in the data itself and the data sources used
• Be the point of reference with regards to testing metrics and processes within the team
• Providing expertise in improving code quality within the data team
• Working within an agile environment to provide high quality software
• Providing mentoring to junior members within the team
• Assisting in the troubleshooting of defects within the software

 
The Java Engineer will demonstrate:

•  At least 3 years’ experience working as a Java Developer and testing tools and testing frameworks
• Proven record of using testing frameworks to improve delivery quality
• Superior knowledge in the Java language; having 3 or more years’ experience in Java developing software applications
• Good knowledge of interacting with database systems; at least 3 years’ experience preferably in either Microsoft SQL, Postgres or Oracle
• Experience working with data systems including data capturing and transformation; having worked for at least 2 years in a data centric environment
• Experience working with Excel or similar tools to visualise and report on data
• Experience working in an Agile environment such as Scrum
• Ability to work well within a team setting
• Interest in working with cloud systems, specifically AWS; experience in such systems would be considered a plus
• Meticulous and a high attention to detail
• Good documentation and communication skills
