Established in 2004, Marketlink Promotions and its affiliate, Smart Gift Ideas, is a growing, award-winning company that designs and supplies innovative themed giftware throughout Australia. We also supply uniforms, corporate gifts, conference products, novelty items, sportswear, tradeshow giveaways and confectionery, to name just a few, travelling overseas twice a year to source the most cutting-edged products.

About the role

The Studio Manager's responsibilities will be:

  • Taking briefs, ascertaining needs, assigning designers to projects and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Communicate the Director's vision to designers, take initiative in getting/making approvals to keep jobs flowing smoothly
  • Creating and implementing project management and workflow processes
  • Scheduling and planning workflow for the design department and all other providers/freelancers
  • Keep all stakeholders updated on the status of projects
  • Remain agile by reviewing daily resources and schedules in order to make necessary adjustments in order to meet deadlines (e.g. engaging freelancers)
  • Quality control and proofreading
  • Assessment and debrief management to ensure continued improvement
  • Careful and consistent archiving /filing of all jobs
  • Staffing and cost estimates for planning and other purposes
  • Creating reports as required
  • Manage freelance specialists such as photographers, IT support people and others
  • Arrange staff training where necessary to keep skills updated

Skills and experience

The Studio Manager must come from a strong product development and graphic design background so they have a deep understanding of :

  • The importance of a watertight brief the complexities of the design process
  • How the restrictions/requirements of  production and manufacturing impact on the way artwork is output
