The Research Assets Division runs a number of programs to enable Health Research including:

  • The Health Insight Study, a new proof-of-concept cohort study of privately insured Australians
  • The 45 and Up Study, the largest ongoing study of healthy ageing in the Southern Hemisphere
  • The Secure Unified Research Environment (SURE), a secure computing environment developed to help make best use of sensitive data.

The Research Assets Division has primary responsibility for the following Institute goals:

  • Build and maintain research assets that enable high-quality research and produce new knowledge for decision making
  • Drive research that contributes to policy, program and service delivery decisions.

About the position

The Project Officer, Research Assets is responsible for customer service and administration activities related to the Secure Unified Research Environment (SURE) program. This includes providing business and client services support, and assistance with the development of systems and processes to manage client support. From time to time the position will provide various types of administrative support. The position requires initiative and the capacity to build professional relationships with a wide range of people.

The Project Officer will have excellent customer service, coordination and organisational skills, with demonstrated capacity for problem solving and developing solutions. The Project Officer plays a key role in coordinating activities across SURE. The role requires you to work closely with other members of Research Assets and liaise with external partners and researchers accessing SURE. You will be very organised, be able to work independently, be able to project a professional tone in all interactions, have excellent teamwork skills and be able to keep oversight of a number of activities.

About the Selection Criteria

To be successful the Project Officer should demonstrate the following technical and behavioural competencies:

Essential -

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people including researchers, clinicians and government officers
  • Excellent customer service skills and a focus on achieving positive outcomes for customers
  • Experience in process-driven delivery of software or IT platforms
  • Demonstrated capacity for problem solving and developing solutions
  • Excellent (advanced) computer skills, including MS Access and other Microsoft Office programs, databases, and office management systems
  • Adaptability and flexibility to handle ambiguous conditions, changing priorities and ability to meet deadlines.

Desirable -

  • Experience in epidemiology and/or public health.
