Harmony Agriculture and Food Company (HAAFCO) is a vertically integrated grower and supplier of beef and sheep/lamb to domestic and international markets - from the grazing and feedlotting of livestock in Victoria and Western Australia, through to its domestic and international customers based in China, South East Asia and the Middle East.  It is an Australian business, which is jointly owned by Australian and Chinese investors.

Dimboola Feedlot, a property operated under the HAAFCO group, is located 10kms North West of Dimboola and 30 Kms North of the regional centre of Horsham in the Wimmera region of Victoria.  The facility is licensed for 5000 head of cattle and has capacity to hold additional cattle as a pre-export quarantine. We are currently seeking an experienced Production Manager, reporting to the Farm Manager, to run the Feed, Commodities and Livestock teams with significant autonomy to execute strategies of Dimboola Feedlot.

The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing;

• Implementation of the strategy to maximize beef production on the property
• The short, medium and long term pasture management, assessment and productivity in line with the determined strategy, particularly focused on rotational grazing
• All daily tasks of the farm, feedlot and day-to-day operations of the business including but not limited to;
• All livestock management including entry and exit movements and induction of livestock for agreed programs, breeding, backgrounding, contract feeding, short term holding or live export preparation.
• Livestock husbandry and welfare including all handling and veterinary treatments
• Livestock feeding and nutrition, bunk management if on feed, water supply
• Compliance with standard operating procedures necessary for relevant breeding or feed/export programs and process systems management and process monitoring.
• Staff training and management with regard to designated roles and responsibilities
• Overseeing and ensuring facility compliance in line with company policy of all regulatory requirements including but not limited to OHS, ASEL, QA, Animal Welfare and Environmental.
• Provision of records and reporting to head office (or other) in a timely manner as required by management.
• Compliance to approved operating budget for the property

Knowledge, Skills and Experience;

• Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to manage and operate an intensive livestock grazing and/or breeding operation with broad administrative and operational knowledge.
• Knowledge of Australian regulatory environment associated with livestock, environmental, feedlotting and export systems.
• Ability to manage a small competent team in a challenging, dynamic and often high pressure environment.
• Sound understanding of feedlot/livestock identification computer software
• Demonstrated capacity to develop and review operational cash flow budgets
