An opporunuty exists for two newly created positions at Ashmore Station, to assist and support management to restablish this property and its infrastructure. Located near Kingston SE, Ashmore is part of the AJ and PA McBride group. This property has 6800 hectares, 80,000 DSE, dual purpose lamb, beef and merino / wool. This is a large grazing property incorporating a self-replacing fine wool merino flock and cattle breeding enterprise.
We are seeking applicants to fill the role of overseer and leading hand to assist management and complement current staff in the care of livestock and the renewal of the property infrastructure. To be considered for this position, you need to be able to demonstrate experience in:
- All aspects of sheep husbandry and the ability to handle large numbers on a daily basis while leading a team of staff;
- Supervising workloads of the team and assisting the manager in management of the property;
- Working with cattle (an advantage but not essential);
- Ensuring safe work practices are adhered to;
- Working with farm software;
- Pasture and grazing management (an advantage or a willingness to learn);
- Overseeing and managing new fencing projects in conjunction with staff and fencing contractor;
- Repair and maintenance of existing fencing - including electric fencing;
- Maintaining, repairing and setting up water points;
- Property and paddock clean up;
- Managing track inventory; and
- Welding
Driving and motorbike licenses required as there is some on road driving required.
