About the role:

The Les Twentyman Foundation is a boutique size NFP providing services and programs for young people in and around Melbourne.

This is a 12 month contract with potential to extend. The position focuses on young people who are experiencing issues within the criminal justice system and requires strong advocacy, street based outreach, case management, group work and intensive individual case-work.

*This position is based in Melbourne's Western Suburbs.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Advocate on behalf of young people, in particular with stakeholders within the justice sector.
  • Conduct assertive outreach and deliver counselling.
  • Monitor and act upon compliance & policy planning and updates.
  • Contribute to program planning, promotion and policy implementation.
  • Maintain a high standard of documentation and reporting.
  • Develop and foster relationships with program partners and the community.
  • Comply with relevant legislation and organisational policies.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work or Social Work.
  • ​Experience in (CBT, Mental Health and or experience of a related community sector (i.e. Justice, education, etc.)
  • Experience in working within the Criminal Justice System, especially with Victoria Police.
  • A solid understanding of adolescence development and specific circumstances which impact on consent and family involvement, inherent in this is the ability to communicate effectively with family members and involve them in assessment and treatment plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, particularly Courts, Youth Justice, and Education etc.
  • A high standard of documentation, reporting, governance & compliance, policy management, legislation monitoring and organisational procedures.
  • ​A strong work ethic and the ability to represent the organisation's philosophy.
  • ​The ability to work within a small team.
  • A current drivers license.
