About Family Contact Service
 
FCS has been operating in Melbourne Victoria and surrounding areas successfully since January 2013.

Family Contact Service (FCS) purpose is to provide high quality contact supervision in circumstances where there is a court order either from the family court or the children’s court. FCS seeks to ensure that children being supervised are safe from harm.
 
FCS is committed to assisting the child and the family to enable a smooth transition minimizing the impact of family breakdown and conflict upon the child. We are also committed to the provision of supervised contact with integrity, understanding and compassion, at the same time as respecting a family’s privacy.

About the Position
 
Currently staff are required in the Geelong, Melbourne Metropolitan, Country regions and surrounding areas, most shifts required are during the weekdays and weekends. FCS is an outreach contact service meaning all contact will occur in the community in child friendly facilities that are deemed safe for the child i.e. child play centres and can progress to a parents home when a safety check have occurred and no safety issues have been identified.
 
Applicants who have experience in child protection or family services are highly sought.
 
Principal Duties & Responsibilities of role:

• Provide supervision and facilitation of contact to a high standard for referred clients in a flexible manner.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with children, parents and wider family, carers and social workers.
• Maintain written records/files of observations in a confidential professional manner and have strong writing skills.
• Have an understanding of Attachment and bonding and describe parenting skills.
• Attend court hearings, case conferences, professionals meeting and other meetings as required.
• Participate in on-going professional development and training.
• Participate in regular supervision.
 
What is Required

A relevant qualification in social work, Youth Work, Welfare or another related discipline is required with experience supervising a child’s time with a parent or significant other.

Current working with children check is required or an approved application to obtain one.

Potential staff must have a current registered and road worthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance and be prepared to use their own vehicle to transport children to and from supervised contact when required.
