The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals NSW is Australia's preeminent animal welfare organisation. We provide a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. RSPCA NSW is committed to the care and welfare of animals, providing extensive professional facilities, including fully equipped veterinary hospitals and our state-wide shelter network, with dedicated staff located throughout NSW to care for animals.
Our Volunteer Support Services team is now looking for Volunteer Support and Foster Care - Lower North region to support the Volunteer Manager in relation to inducting, training, and providing ongoing support to volunteers on behalf of RSPCA NSW.
This position is a full-time position based across Hunter, Central Coast, and Port Macquarie. The successful candidate must be able to work occasional weekends and after hours.
Role responsibilities:
- Recruitment responsibilities such as screening and interviews
- Providing training or demonstrations
- Presenting volunteer and foster care program to internal stakeholders
- Conducting volunteer performance reviews and training and education sessions
- Promoting the recognition program
- Supporting volunteer and foster care communications such as social functions, newsletters and/or social media
- Communication within all aspects of the organisation, including internal stakeholders
- Maintain positive relationships with volunteers and internal stakeholders
- Support policies, procedures and standards for volunteers and foster carers
- Rostering and organising volunteers and foster carers
- Uphold WHS standards, including developing and implementing policies
- Maintaining a high level of risk and compliance, work health and safety, and governance
Selection criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline desirable
- People supervision experience (2 years minimum)
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and conduct effective consultations
- Experience working within a strict timeframe and budget
- Strong organisational, project and administration skills
- Conflict resolution, mediation and problem solving skills
- High sensitivity to reputational risk
