Disability Support Worker
I Am Here provides respite options to people with a disability and their carers.
We are currently seeking experienced Disability Support Workers for casual shifts both in the community and in our respite house located in Elermore Vale, Newcastle. Our ideal candidate would have experience working within the Disability, Youth, Aged Care, Community or Allied Health sectors. We have casual day and active overnight shifts available working within a roster and an on-call basis.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Disability, Youth Work, Community or Health and Allied Health sectors, with a minimum 12 months experience working with people with acquired brain injury and people with a disability
- Experience working with people who have challenging behaviours (e.g. ABI, Autism) is highly desirable
- Trained in epilepsy management
- Trained in Medication Administration
- Flexibility to work alternative shifts on a roster basis with active overnight shift work experienced in the management of hoisting people for their personal care
- Experience in driving vehicles accommodating wheelchair access and the safe securing of wheelchairs. Good ability to write progress notes and keep accurate records
- A current Working with Children Check and current Criminal Record Check
- A Current driver license comprehensively insured motor vehicle
- A Current First Aid Certificate
