The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (the Award) is the world’s leading youth achievement award, equipping young people for life and work. Annually, more than one million young people take part in the Award in over 130 countries and territories. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation (the Foundation) drives and supports the Award’s global growth, so more young people can take part.
The Asia Pacific region includes the areas bounded by: To the North: China, Mongolia and Japan, To the East: Pacific Islands, To the South: Australia and New Zealand, To the West: Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Maldives. The Asia Pacific team work with Award operators to develop the Award in the region, enabling even more young people to embark on an enjoyable and exciting Award journey. There are currently 12 National Award Operators (NAOs) and 3 Operating Authorities (OAs) supporting in excess of 500,000 participants each year. The regional team has a remit to ensure NAOs and OAs are complying with the Foundation’s licensing standards and delivering the Award in a consistent manner, and working with them to build capacity and capability in order to enable the growth and achieve impact, access and reach of the Award in their countries.
The Regional Manager will prepare, perform and support the licence validations of National Award Operators and Operating Authorities and follow up on their improvement plans. They will work closely with the Regional Director to set, communicate and meet the annual work plan objectives for support of Award Operators in Existing Markets in the region. Also they will work closely with the Regional Director and Project Teams to support the development of the Award in New Markets in the region.
We are looking for someone with strong communication, leadership and IT skills. As well, cultural awareness and sensitivity will be key to the success of this role. The successful candidate will be able to work alone, on their own initiative, manage time, prioritise workloads, working under competing pressures and to deadlines.
