About the role...

 As a Community and Engagement Coordinator in our headspace Capalaba Service you will facilitate partnerships with health and community service agencies, public and private schools, TAFE and tertiary education providers, government organisations, and young people who are interested in working with headspace. This role will involve developing, facilitating and evaluating a range of community events, health and education programs and networks and will build upon these partnerships to;

  • Promote the services of headspace.
  • Encourage early help seeking in young people.
  • Improve mental health literacy in the general community, and
  • Raise community awareness of the physical, mental, and social health challenges faced by young people.

The successful candidate will also be required to identify and write submissions for potential income sources through appropriate grant funding and general fundraising opportunities.

The Right Fit...

To be successful, you will have relevant experience in community development, stakeholder engagement and youth and/or mental health and the ability to engage with and build professional relationships with young people and their families and friends.

  • Tertiary degree in Education, Community Development, or Health related sector (or equivalent level of knowledge gained through education, training and/or experience)
  • Experience in a similar role including Community Development Coordinator, Health Promotion Officer, Mental Health provider and/or service provider to young people and Families.
  • Excellent verbal communication and written skills, including the ability to identify potential funding sources and write the appropriate grant submissions.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with and engage a variety of different people and stakeholders.
  •  Confidence in use of IT including the ability to quickly learn social media applications (eg. Facebook), website maintenance, smartsheets and software used regularly within the Centre.
  • Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated skills in organisation and time-management, including the ability to work autonomously, under pressure and balance multiple projects to various deadlines.
  • Proven understanding of duty of care, rights to privacy and confidentiality, ethical practice.
