ac.care is seeking dedicated staff of to join our team of Therapeutic Support Workers. 

Through ongoing training and support you will learn to look beneath the surface of challenging behaviours and respond to the needs of the young person within a therapeutic model of care.  

Initially you will be employed on a casual basis with the opportunity to apply for permanent part-time roles as they become available.

About you:

  • You hold a tertiary qualification relevant to the role; OR you hold or are currently studying a Certificate 4 (or above) in either Child, Youth and Family Intervention or Community Services; OR If successful, you are willing to commence and actively study one of the above qualifications within 4 months of commencing the role
  • You hold, or are willing to obtain prior to commencement a DCSI Child-Related Employment Screening, a Child Safe Environment Certificate and a Provide First Aid certificate (at ac.care's expense)
  • You have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people and are eager to learn the latest techniques in therapeutic care.
  • You are available to work a minimum of three shifts per week
  • You hold a full Driver's Licence.

  • ongoing coaching and mentoring from your line manager and other experienced staff
  • staff numbers per shift based on individual assessment of client needs (usually 2 staff/4 clients)

What will I do as a Therapeutic Support Worker?

You will work as part of a team providing quality around the clock care in a home-based environment to children and young people who have been placed under the Guardianship of the Minister, building healthy, supportive relationships, and role-modelling appropriate behaviours.

The following conditions also apply:

  • Over 21 years of age
  • Have a right to live and work in Australia
  • Have a current Driver's Licence with full provisions and willingness to drive in the course of the role
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Willing to work a 24/7 roster with day, afternoon and active and passive (sleeping) night shifts
