Wintringham is a specialist not-for-profit company providing an extensive range of aged care, housing and related support services to elderly men and women who come from a homeless background. With annual revenue of $51 million, we employ over 600 staff and operate from multiple offices in Melbourne and regional Victoria. Wintringham is a major provider of home care in Victoria, managing approximately 700 home care packages. Our regional team of Carer's, Case Managers, Outreach Workers, Care & Support Workers and Recreation staff provide holistic care and support to clients who live independently in their own homes.

Wintringham is currently seeking a flexible and enthusiastic Housing Support & Outreach worker to join our regional site on a part time basis. In this role you will be the first point of contact for elderly people residing in at risk accommodation or who are homeless and seeking accommodation. You will provide information and links to services in regards to health, welfare, community care and social supports. You will aim to assist clients in maintaining their independence and prevent the premature admission into residential aged care.

We are seeking candidates with excellent communication skills who have the ability to build rapport with those who are socially isolated within the community. You will have a non-judgmental attitude, the ability to liaise with people form varying socioeconomic backgrounds, and experience working with both socially isolated people and people with challenging behaviour. The ability to undertake administrative tasks including computer work, filing, case notes and client records is essential in this role.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • A minimum of an undergraduate qualification in Social Work, Social Sciences or Welfare
  • Current First Aid Certificate and CPR
  • Own reliable vehicle that is suitable to transport clients
  • Current drivers licence
  • Prior experience in Aged or Community Care (preferable)
