Case Worker in Training
Part-time 23 hours per week - Fixed term 2 years

The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s most loved Christian organisations, working within the community to support people struggling through times of crisis. Still Waters is a crisis accommodation centre for Mothers with Children in the Gold Coast Area; allowing a safe and friendly environment, where they can receive support and stable accommodation.
About the role:
You will support individuals to achieve housing stability, experience improved social inclusion and be equipped to live successfully in the community. This support is achieved through recovery-based case management activities and working effectively with other members of the team to provide a comprehensive client service within the values and mission of TSA. This position works under the general direction of senior staff in operational requirements and practice that requires the application of skills and knowledge appropriate to the position.
Essential Requirements:
- An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
- Tertiary qualifications within Community Services, Social Work or similar discipline, or extensive relevant experience with a minimum of Diploma qualifications.
- Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.
- Experience working in collaboration with other organisations to develop and tailor programs to meet clients’ needs.
- Strong problem solving, decision making and evaluation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour, violence and problems associated with homelessness, substance abuse and psychiatric conditions.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and negotiate with a range of internal and external clients.
- Sound computer literacy.
- Team player, flexible with a positive attitude.
- Current First Aid Certificate, current Driver’s licence, and willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or the ability to obtain.
- Must be available to do rotating shift work (Morning, Afternoon and Night) including weekends
