The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is committed to making a difference in people’s lives to manage our Supported Independent Living service located in Moorabbin, which is home to four adults living with acquired brain injuries.  Services are designed to support each resident in the way they want to achieve their goals and enhance and facilitate their independence in a supported environment and their community.

You will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of Direct Support Workers in delivering high quality person centred services and for the management of day to day operations that cater to the individual needs of each resident.

The position includes a mix of direct and administration shifts, Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week and includes emergency afterhours support.

The position reports to the Residential Services Manager and is supported by the broader AHC corporate and clinical teams.

Accountabilities

  • The successful candidate will work some direct support shifts and allocated administration hours each week.
  • Roster management and allocation of direct support workers
  • Supervision and management of the direct support team including staff induction, performance feedback, appraisals, conflict resolution.
  • Payroll and database management
  • Administrative duties including payroll, reporting, policy review, maintenance of client and staff documentation, WHS compliance.
  • Development and maintenance of personalised support plans for each resident, identifying goals and aspirations and how supports can be provided to achieve these.
  • Maintain standards of communication and reporting to residents, families, community providers and AHC staff
  • Demonstrate on a day-to-day basis the principles that underpin the service ie: empowerment, empathy, personal growth and skill enhancement, independence and resident self-determination.
  • Maintain relationships with our partners in the effective delivery of services and support for our client group.
  • Support a safe working environment via site maintenance and staff supervision and ensure high standards of site presentation is maintained and achieved.

Skills & Experience

  • A disability/health qualification and relevant experience in the disability sector.
  • Previous management and supervisory experience within a residential environment
  • Working knowledge of Disability Legislation and quality frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Confidence in using commonly used computer based software
  • A passion to work within a rehabilitation/restorative framework aimed at working with individuals to achieve their goals.
  • First Aid and CPR are required, along with clear Police Check and DHHS Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme.
