A lady who lives in her own gorgeous apartment in Woody Point (with views to die for) along with her family manage her own small team of Disability Support Workers. She requires 24 hours per day, 7 days a week assistance and supports are holistic putting her at the forefront of all decisions and are both in her home and out in the community. The lady has an eclectic taste in music and is into window shopping (and finding a bargain), dining out and current affairs.

Her support team have come from social work background and disability support as well as completely staff from unrelated previous careers. This is a suitable position for those interested in a career change or who are currently studying and looking for a part time stable work to compliment.

Role:

Previous experience with support work or qualifications are not required as full training will be provided around her support – however note support needs are quite high around epilepsy management, personal care and transferring and her communication.

The ability to communicate well, the right values about people with disabilities living a good life and being a participating and contributing community member are the essential elements that the lady and her self-managing family seek along with minimum commitment to role of one year.

Duties:

• Support with all the usual...meals, shopping, keeping house tidy and clean
• Support with complex medical issues, personal care and transferring
• Some cooking within a complex strict dietary requirement's (training, direction provided)
• When able the icing on the cake part of life – getting out and about and meeting new people in the area – those who are good networkers in their life are naturals with what’s required - we can teach you the other stuff

Shift times and days for the 2 positions available are;

Position 1:  3 x 24 hour shifts per fortnight

• Weekly Wednesday 24-hour shift (5pm Wednesday to 5pm Thursday)
• Fortnightly Saturday 24-hour shift (5pm Saturday to 5pm Sunday)

Position 2: 2 x 24 shifts per fortnight:

• Fortnightly Thursday (5pm Thursday to 5pm Friday)
• Fortnightly Sunday (5pm Sunday to 5pm Monday)
• The Monday and the Thursday fall on the same week

 The Saturday and Sunday may be negotiable to alternate or swap around.

JOB SEEKER REQUIREMENTS

• Outgoing, confident person with large group of connections, friends, family & acquaintances in Moreton Shire.
• Knowledge of activities, events, clubs, groups in the Moreton Shire regional area.
• Driver's license (Vehicle is provided for transport assistance).
• Either yellow card or Police check (or willing to obtain).
• Genuine interest in working with someone both in their own home and supporting them to connecting in well within the community.
• Competent computer skills required for data recording and record keeping in Excel (not formulas)
