About the role:

The Family Restoration Case Manager provides expert knowledge and expertise in working with birth parents and other services towards the restoration of children and young people to their care. The Family Restoration Case Manager is responsible for providing high quality, intensive casework support to families with complex needs, working collaboratively with them to address risks and barriers, strengthen their parental skills and protective factors to support the return of children to their care. The Family Restoration Case Manager is part of a multidisciplinary team.

This position will work with Foster Care Team who lead case management, where restoration is the Case Plan Goal.

The Family Restoration Case Manager works collaboratively with the Foster Care Team to establish and maintain a workplace culture congruent with our Mission, Vision and Values. Engage the organisation in best practice initiatives in the pursuit of becoming an employer of choice.

What you need to be successful in the role:

  1. A Degree in Social Work, or another relevant qualification.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience in the family support, child protection and out of home care systems
  3. Demonstrated experience and high-level skills in engaging with working with vulnerable children, young people and complex families
  4. Extensive experience in working collaboratively with parents to identify strengths and goals to address risk and barriers and strengthen parenting capacity
  5. Demonstrated experience in in conducting risk assessments to inform decision making
  6. Well-developed clinical knowledge relating to relevant theoretical frameworks, i.e. attachment theory, child development, trauma informed care, systems theories and approaches and knowledge of relevant evidence based interventions for working with complex families
  7. Excellent communication negotiation skills with demonstrated capacity to develop collaborative relationships across professional and organisational boundaries
  8. Working knowledge of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1987
  9. Sound computer, organisational and time management skills
  10. National Police Check and WWCC Clearance
  11. Drivers Licence
