THE OPPORTUNITY

Our OOHC Services program exists to enhance the quality of life for the children and young people we support as well as families and carers. We cater for children and young people with low to high disability support needs. 

We have  casual opportunities for support workers who are passionate about positive outcomes for children and young people. We need people who are creative, patient, and innovative, is enthusiastic, self-confident, and resilient to work within our residential group homes located within the South East Queensland area.

You will need to  be available to work a combination of shifts including mornings, afternoons, sleepovers, weekends and short shifts (minimum 4 hours). We require applicants to have a minimum of 4 days availability a week for these shifts.  

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and have experience in managing high risk challenging behaviour.  The range of supports may include:

  • community participation and independence skill building
  • implementation of behaviour intervention and support programs
  • assistance with budgeting
  • facilitation of family contact and case management
  • assistance with domestic chores (cooking, cleaning etc)

This role may require personal care, manual handling and a high level of physical activity. Applicants must be willing and able to perform these duties to be successful for this position.

Essential criteria that applicants will need to be able to demonstrate are:

  • more than 6 months experience working with children and young people with disability, complex needs and challenging behaviours,
  • the ability to work as part of a team
  • excellent communication skills
  • current drivers licence
  • current first aid certificate
  • current blue card
  • willingness to work a 7 day roster which will include sleepover and short shifts
