Your Opportunity
The Premier’s Youth Initiative (PYI) is an initiative that identifies and targets young people leaving out-of-home care (OOHC) who are likely to be homeless or at risk of homelessness on exit from care and diverts them from entering the homelessness service system altogether. In this role you will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth to prevent them from becoming homeless.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide ongoing care plan sessions and informal counselling to clients
- Source referral services to meet client needs and establishing referral pathways
- Build relationships with organisations and services beneficial to clients
- Contribute to the function and development of service through involvement in projects
Position Requirements
- Diploma in Social Welfare (minimum Cert IV) or relevant industry experience.
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Experience working with consumers experiencing barriers to engagement including AOD and mental health.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

In addition, there is a requirement to possess a current Working with Children check or apply if you do not already hold one.
