Dementia Australia is the new voice of Alzheimer’s Australia, and the peak body representing the interests of people with dementia, their families and carers.
We are currently seeking a Support Worker to join our Client Services Department located in Gold Coast. As a Support Worker you will be responsible for providing quality community based Respite & Social Support services for people with dementia and their family carers, based on person-centred practice.
To be successful in this role you will show an absolute commitment to the delivery of high quality dementia services and support within your region.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Previous experience in a similar role within a respite service or aged care facility.
- Current Criminal history/police check.
- Current Basic First Aid Certificate.
- Access to a road worthy vehicle with Full Comprehensive Car Insurance.
- Ability to engage in meaningful relationships with people with dementia; support their abilities; promote their dignity at all times; and provide reassurance and validation of their feelings.
- Ability to create and sustain an environment that supports and empowers people with dementia.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Willingness to participate in specific training and skills development as required.
