  • Full time (38 hrs per week) Maximum term contract until June 2019.
  • From $73k p.a - (Level 5 - SCHCADS Award) plus access to generous salary packaging up to $18,000pa +9.5% super

 About the Service

The Society delivers essential Local Area Coordination (LAC) services as part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) rollout in NSW. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) represents a significant change in Australia’s ways of providing disability support with a focus on individual goals, choice, social inclusion and building capacity. NDIS takes a lifetime approach, investing in people with disability early to improve their outcomes later in life.

The Role

As an LAC Team Leader you will be responsible for the day to day oversight and leadership of a team of Local Area Coordinators. This role will ensure effective leadership, supervision and support is provided in the delivery of the service, meet targets, and to facilitate a professional and positive workplace culture.

In addition and importantly, the Team Leader will work as part of a broader leadership team in partnership with the District and Senior Operations Manager to ensure a level of consistency and integrity across the program.

You will be expected to actively participate in forums and networks to support the ongoing development of the LAC program.

You also will be expected to take on Local Area Coordination, working directly with NDIS participants, their families, carers and communities to support them to access NDIA through Design and implementation of individual plans.

You will have the opportunity to receive ongoing professional development and training within your role, giving you the skills to make a difference and help build the capacity for all Australians to control their own life and destiny.

The successful Team Leader candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience working in the human services sector

  • Strong understanding of key principles of the NDIS for participants and communities.

  • Experience implementing person centered approaches and other contemporary disability and community services practices.

  • Experience leading a team including coaching mentoring and sound knowledge of WH&S legislation.

  • Ability to work collaboratively, analyze, problem solve and contribute to consistent, yet innovative work practices.

  • Ethical, inclusive and non-judgmental attitude towards others.

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication (including report writing), interpersonal and negotiation skills.

  • Understanding of the key principals, philosophy and opportunities of the NDIS for Participants.

  • Ability to adapt and support others in a changing environment and ability to prioritize competing demands.

  • Willingness to adhere to the mission and ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society and Code of Conduct

  • Ability to manage workflows, meet deadlines and achieve targets as an individual and through leadership across a team.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Eg Word, Excel) and experience working with client information systems.

  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to undertake regular travel.
