About the business

Do you want to make a real contribution to the voice of South Australians living with intellectual disability?  Have you had success leading projects that influence positive changes?

Our Voice SA is a user-led organisation of people living with intellectual disability incorporated in 2007. This Project Leader position has been created to assist Our Voice SA deliver an NDIS-funded 2-year project.


Our Voice has appointed Purple Orange to coordinate the project, and the Project Leader will be a member of the Purple Orange team. As part of the role, the Project Leader will also take a lead in Purple Orange's broader policy work in relation to advocacy and self-advocacy.
 

About the role

The project involves three stages; first, the project will co-design information specifically tailored to the needs and priorities of people living with intellectual disability. Second, the project will distribute this information in a range of ways to reach as many South Australians living with intellectual disability as possible. The third stage is where the project assists people to join peer networks, to build their skills and knowledge in relation to the NDIS and connecting to mainstream community opportunities

Skills and experience

To be successful working with us, you need to demonstrate that you are:

  • Values-driven: Deeply-felt value base in support of improving the life chances for people living with disability and their families, especially in respect of self-advocacy, choices and inclusion,
  • Experienced in facilitating the voice, participation and self-advocacy of people living with intellectual disability,
  • Well-organised, so that work is conducted on time, on budget and to specific standards
  • Diplomatic, able to work with a range of people to build their support for this project
  • Good thinker, to find solutions to problems and to build the project's knowledge
  • Good communicator, to lead conversations about the importance of advocacy and self-advocacy
  • Qualified: relevant degree (or similar)
