About the Organisation

DUO Services Australia, a leading provider of personal, home and community support services in Canberra, recently joined Life Without Barriers, a leading social purpose, not for profit organisation working in more than 440 communities across Australia. We support children, young people and families, people with disability, older people and people with mental illness. We work with people who are homeless and refugees and asylum seekers.

About the role 

We are seeking Support Workers for roles in the Canberra area. You would assist in providing ongoing, flexible support services to promote the independence of DUO’s clients. Based in an individual support setting, you will work in a team to make a positive change and enhance the lives of DUO’s clients. This challenging but rewarding opportunity is based across our Canberra and nearby Ulladulla delivery locations.
 
We can offer you flexible hours to suit your own personal circumstances and competitive hourly pay.  Sessions are generally 1-2 hours and the quantity can be rostered to suit you.
 
 
Key Responsibilities
 

  • Provide support to clients through implementing identified support plans
  • Assistance with grooming, bathing and other elements of personal care
  • Housecleaning tasks and meal preparation
  • Support clients to meet their social support requirements
  • Respite support
 
Skills & Experience
 

  • Relevant experience and willingness to work with vulnerable people
  • A current Certificate III in Community Services or the willingness to complete within 2 years.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to work various sessions (day, afternoon, night, sleepover and active nights) throughout the week and weekends
  • Full drivers licence and comprehensive/third party property motor vehicle insurance along with a registered, roadworthy vehicle.
 
 
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record check and Working with Vulnerable People check.
