The Division of Plant Sciences (DPS) – one of three divisions in the Research School of Biology (RSB) – spans translation of genomic sequences and its encoded information to whole-of-system characteristics of plant form and function. We embrace opportunities that link fundamental research with translation outcomes and are a leading centre for training of the next generation of plant biologists.  Our research is underpinned by world-class equipment, infrastructure and support staff, and funded by an extensive range of external grants (including two Australian Research Council Centres of Excellence in the plant sciences) and a block grant from the Australian Government.

The Farquhar Lab focuses on research into the Coordination of CO2 fixation and transpiration in plants, with research topics including, Integration of photosynthesis and growth with nitrogen and water use of plants, Stomatal physiology, Isotopic composition of plants, and Global change science.

Position Overview

The Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Fellow will undertake independent and team research on the ARC DP170104276 Grant titled ‘To Péclet or not to Péclet? Understanding leaf water isotope composition’.

This position is based within the Farquhar Lab at ANU and will liaise with Professor Margaret Barbour at The University of Sydney.

The successful candidate will have experience that is relevant to plant physiological research in some or all of the following areas: plant water relations, photosynthesis and/or environmental biology, and we would recommend that you frame your application as such.

Specific research experience in fluid dynamics through porous media, including numerical modelling as well as application of isotope and water relations techniques to plants would be an advantage.
