The Centre
KU services are very unique in there approach to early childhood education, all KU centres are also encouraged to develop an area of specialisation.
At KU St Ives Barra Brui Preschool, we specialise in a literacy based program known as the Helicopter Stories Project. This project focuses on developing literacy skills for story writing and telling, combined with developing strong self-esteem and self-image within preschool aged children. Which helps in building strong literacy prior to them transitioning to school.
KU St Ives Barra Brui is located in St Ives a suburb in the upper North Shore of Sydney, close to Barra Brui Oval and Park the centre is within easy reach via public buses. Along with St Ives we also have an opportunity to join KU West Pymble Preschool which is only a short drive from St Ives Barra Brui, with a special interest in wildlife protection and interaction, and a genuine interest in reduce our carbon footprint through incorporating sustainable practices throughout the service this centre is another opportunity not to be missed.
Both these centres have been independently assessed by the the Department of Education NSW under the National Quality Standard, and are proud to be rated as 'Exceeding' the National Quality Standard.
The roles on offer
We are seeking interested Certificate III qualified educators whose got the drive and passion to work in Early Childhood. The position we have on offer will be working in the Preschool room (3-5 years) supporting a child with additional needs. This is a fixed term contract up to end of term with possibility of extension, working Monday and Tuesday 5 hours per day 9.30 am to 2.30 pm (KU St Ives Barra Brui) and Wednesday to Friday 3 hours per day (KU West Pymble Preschool). This will be ideal for educators whose demonstrated experience include preschool, long day care and working with additional needs children.
The impact you’ll have
- work as a member of a co-operative team in order to provide an appropriate educational program for the children within her/his care.
- ensure that up to date records are maintained for each child under that persons care.
- ensure that the policies of KU and the funding authorities are implemented in providing appropriate care and educational programs for children.
What we’re looking for?
We want you to be as passionate about early childhood education and as committed to achieving positive outcomes as we are. In addition you will have:
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Work rights to enable you to work in Australia
- Recognised Certificate III in Children’s Services or similar as approved by Australian Children’s Education and Quality Authority (ACECQA)
- Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law(2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011)
- Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF)(VEYLF)
- Professional level of written and verbal communication skills
- Current knowledge of Child Protection legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills
