Position Description

Reporting to the Managing Director (MD), the Academic manager will be responsible for the development of course content and delivery, managing and reviewing academic issues and ensuring the welfare of students.

Duties and responsibilities

The position requires the individual to:

  • Ensure quality standards as set out and are maintained in the delivery of courses
  • Ensure high levels of student engagement and satisfaction
  • Support in the recruitment and management of training staff/trainers/assessors
  • Identify and create opportunities for ongoing improvement of academic operations
  • Support all other departments through timely, effective reporting and information sharing
  • Student orientation and induction
  • Provide support for student retention activities and strategies, and the effective provision of student oriented services
  • Oversee and monitor VET compliance to ensure Brighten Institute Australia adheres to ASQA and those of associated bodies.
  • Oversee development or purchase of assessment materials and delivery options to ensure they are compliant with ASQA and Training package requirements.
  • Guide and support Brighten Institute Australia's staff on matters relating to compliance.
  • Advise on RTO standards, relevant regulations and possibilities for future expansion in the VET
  • Manage course delivery, trainer/assessor supervision and related academic matters, such as timetabling, curriculum and RTO administration.
  • Contribute to the development of course content and resources.
  • Manage and monitor updates to qualifications and related changes to training packages
  • Alongside the Managing Director, assist general duties and oversee recruitment of new staff when needed.
  • Consult with industry specialists or external consultants to ensure Brighten Institute delivers courses that are current and relevant to students.

Essential Criteria

  • eLearning experience is a must
  • Demonstrated experience in using online platforms and webinar
  • Demonstrated experience in online delivery
  • Proven track record of developing curriculum for VET management related courses – certificate and diploma level
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 and/or a qualification of Adult Education at Diploma level or higher.
  • Diploma or above in Business or Management fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing RTO compliance.
  • Extensive interpersonal communication skills and the ability to manage and work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of training package requirements, AVETMISS.
  • Extensive knowledge of the VET sector and RTO Standards and Regulations.
