About the program

Hartnett House Children’s Centre works in partnership with families, the wider community, other Melbourne City Mission Services and other support services to provide a quality educational program for children based on children’s individual needs and interests. Moreland City Council’s Maternal and Child Health Services are located on site alongside Melbourne City Missions ECIS and the Early Years Family Support team.

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Certificate III Qualified Educator to join the current team at Harnett House. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on play based learning and be able to support the service in providing a responsive and flexible program for all children.

The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of high quality, responsive early childhood programs, through collaborative partnerships with families, other professionals and the local community. 

You will bring to this role:

  • Ability to engage with and support children in a play based educational setting.
  • Ability to provide a high quality program based on observation.
  • Willingness to provide a flexible indoor/outdoor program.
  • Sound knowledge of child development.
  • Demonstrated Capacity to guide children’s behaviour.
  • Awareness and respect for the cultural needs of families.
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality of information.
  • Capacity to work positively within a team environment.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Capacity to interact with people who have an intellectual, physical or sensory disability.
  • Capacity to meet the physical requirements of the role, including bending, sitting/standing and lifting.

Key Requirement:

  • A Certificate III of Children’s Services or equivalent
  • A current First Aid Certificate – Level Two
  • Current Anaphylaxis & Asthma Training
  • Valid Working with Children Check
