Newbury Primary School is a government school located in the rapidly growing residential area of Craigieburn. The school is located at the intersection of Newbury and Grand Boulevard and caters for students in Years Prep to 6.

Newbury Primary School is a holistic learning community that provides exceptional teaching and learning experiences. The teaching areas are divided with quieter small group spaces that complement the connectedness of the classrooms. Flexibility is offered through a variety of diverse spaces, including break out spaces, reading nooks and areas for small group, whole group and individual instruction to better cater to the individual needs of students.

Selection Criteria


SC1: Demonstrated ability to work with staff to identify and support students through external services and the referral process.

SC2: Demonstrated ability to work with referred students and families to implement strategies that will promote positive educational and social outcomes.

SC3: Demonstrated capacity to coordinate the Program for Students with Disabilities in order to procure and deliver a range of professional support services for student health, wellbeing and engagement.

SC4: Demonstrated ability to participate in and contribute to a collaborative working environment and develop supportive professional working relationships with staff, students, parents and carers.

SC5: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with a range of support services and the school community.

Role


The Student Support and Inclusion Coordinator will work three days a week to coordinate the Program for Students with Disabilities program. The successful applicant will need to have a steadfast commitment to thorough documentation and record keeping, an understanding of inclusive education principles and the ability to manage complex cases through a case management approach. They will work with staff to assist in the development of a range of supports for students which includes involvement in the planning and delivery of professional learning opportunities for teachers, Education Support staff and parents/carers.

Responsibilities


he role of Student Support and Inclusion Coordinator may include but is not limited to:

  • Coordinate the completion of Programs for Students with Disabilities (PSD) applications including new applications, 6/7 reviews, out of rounds and Prep applications
  • Ensure an appropriate range of support is maintained through coordinating support services eg. coordinate Student Support Service Officers (SSSO) and external services
  • Coordinate, document and hold Student Support Group meetings or other meetings as required
  • Liaise with and provide information to parents/carers, staff and students about referrals and support services
  • Liaise and consult with service providers, welfare agencies and relevant organisations to facilitate student referrals
  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity regarding student referrals and concerns
  • Provide support to students funded under the Program for Students with Disabilities
  • Assist staff in catering to the needs of students funded under the Program for Students with Disabilities
  • Liaise with and advise teachers, Education Support staff and parents/carers regarding the support and intervention needs of students
  • Seek out and make links with a broad range of community services
  • Manage the delivery of support services to students, teachers, parents/carers and other school clients
  • Maintain effective communication on student management databases such as Sentral, SOCS and PSDMS

Who May Apply


Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
