College Principal - Callaghan College Wallsend Campus Position Information Callaghan College is a large multi-campus secondary school located in the north-west corridor of Newcastle. The College is committed to delivering opportunities for all students to succeed in a caring environment. The College consists of Wallsend Campus and Waratah Technology Campus for students in Years 7-10 and Jesmond Senior Campus for Years 11-12. There are 12 support classes across the three campuses catering for a range of student needs. The College has approximately 2300 students with 14% who identify as Torres Strait Islander or Aboriginal. There are over 300 staff, across the three separate campuses. In each campus, quality learning takes place with students achieving success in learning and extra-curricular activities. The four principals meet regularly as a senior management group to determine policy and across-College procedures. Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria: Demonstrated capacity to lead, inspire and mentor teams across a range of settings. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with Aboriginal students and communities to produce outstanding outcomes. Demonstrated strategic, innovative and visible educational leadership to raise student, staff and community expectations. Proven outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to build productive relationships and effective partnership across a diverse community. General Selection Criteria 1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education 2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs 3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community 4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning 5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning 6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people Conditions If you have not held a substantive principal position in a NSW Public School at any time in the past five (5) years, you need to have completed the NSW Public School Leadership and Management Credential to be eligible to apply, and you will need to attach a copy of your provisional credential certificate or final credential certificate as part of your application. Special Notes This position is the College Principal position, not a campus principal position. The position is located at the Wallsend Campus for administrative purposes.
