Your new role
As Senior Health and Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for the implementation and evaluation of health and safety initiatives and directions, and manage, monitor and report on outcomes, with specific focus on chemical safety and dangerous goods.
Your role will provide professional advice and support to relevant committees, managers and staff on chemical safety related matters and legislation, by prioritising incoming queries from internal and external stakeholders with a focused timely resolution mindset.
Your understanding of and ability to monitor, interpret and comply with legislation, codes of practice, and Australian Standards is criterial to succeeding in the role.
Strong identification of risks and hazards with a proven ability to participate in projects, investigations and report effectively to minimise university risk is also necessary for this role.
You will bring to the role
- To be successful you will have completed a degree in Chemistry or related discipline and relevant experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated sound working knowledge and understanding of Occupational Safety and Health legislation, Dangerous Goods Safety legislation and subsidiary documents such as Standards and Codes of Practice is critical.
- Strong proven experience in safety resolution and risk management principles is essential.
- A High level of interpersonal communication skills with the ability to consult and liaise with key stakeholders, and the ability to construct professional reports and other relevant documentation is required.
