Full Time – Permanent

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Early Childhood Educator Second in Charge at Arthur Dickmann Childcare Centre. This position would suit a person with some experience in staff leadership, business management, family engagement and children’s educational programming. Minimum requirement is Diploma Children’s Services, experience in staff supervision and current knowledge working in services that aim for high quality results within the National Quality Framework.

The successful applicant will be able to support the Service leader in:

  • Research current trends and practices to enhance services ongoing commitment to quality improvement,
  • Recruitment process
  • Mentoring and supporting staff at all levels of children’s services qualification at the service,
  • Development of the professional capacity of other educators and staff
  • Providing leadership, supervision and support of service staff and educators
  • Ensuring the provision and maintenance of high quality, flexible, culturally relevant and inclusive early childhood services which meet the needs of a diverse user group.
  • Ensuring the coordination of all service delivery aspects for Arthur Dickmann Childcare Centre; providing support, direction and assistance to staff and educators within the relevant program areas, whilst assisting them to implement best practice early childhood education and care and appropriate, effective business practices
  • Providing professional advice and assistance to the public and other stakeholders to ensure easy access to all relevant services.

The Second in Charge will have the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues and able to positively resolve conflict and have effective customer service skills and experience. This position also has the Educational Leader component for the service and requires someone with the skills to provide the following:

  • Lead your service team in;
    • Reflective discussions about practice
    • Reflective discussion on implementing the learning
    • Critical reflection around program and practice
    • Inquiry projects
    • Quality practice
    • Connecting with community
  • Support and Mentor your service team in;
    • Observing child / educator interactions and providing feedback
    • Working with external agencies to promote inclusion
    • Promoting systems to ensure there is continuity of learning when children change rooms, attend other service or transition to school
  • Participate in networks by;
    • Participating in Educational Leader network meetings
    • Attending training
    • Participating in other meetings as identified by Service Leader/ Quality Assurance Coordinator/ Network Leader
