Job description:

We now have a Trade Manager - Oceania role in the APL Commercial team in Melbourne. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Oceania, this position is responsible for:
•    Development and implementation of all pricing policies and trade strategies for APL Oceania services.
•    Being multi-skilled in all aspects of  
    (a) southbound and northbound pricing plan, 
    (b) preparation/ analysis of market information, 
    (c) analysis of competitive information in the trade, 
    (d) analysis of performance of trade versus strategies employed, 
    (e) develop strategies to improve the profitability and market share of APL, 
    (f) implement the strategies with Sales Managers and monitor the progress of implementation  

 

To be successful in this role, you MUST have –

•    Australian citizenship / permanent residence.
•    Tertiary qualifications in a business discipline or equivalent experience.
•    Minimum 5 years’ experience in the shipping industry with a proven track record in a senior commercial role, preferably with trade manager experience or related discipline
•    Highly developed communication, presentation and negotiation skills 
•    Ability to prepare and analyse financial data
•    Demonstrated ability to proactively strategise, plan effectively and deliver outcomes
•    An understanding of both ‘macro’ and ‘micro’ business fundamentals.
•    Highly developed computer and spreadsheet skills including a high level of numeracy.
•    Focus on operational excellence, innovation and continuous improvement
•    Proven problem solving skills, with ability to communicate with all departments
•    Exceptional stakeholder management
•    Well-developed analytical skills. 
•    Ability to function as part of a team working in multi-skilled environment.
•    Organised and disciplined process management skills.
•    A high level of organisation, presentation, and communication skills. The person can expect to have regular contact with the highest levels of management.
•    Logical and strategic thinker.
•    Demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
